Air Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning
What’s In Your Ducts?
Even if you change your air filters regularly, dust and other air pollutants will inevitably accumulate in your ductwork over time. If you’ve noticed poor airflow, dusty surfaces, or stale odors in your home or commercial space, it’s probably time to get your ducts professionally cleaned.
Air Duct Cleaning
The Difference Clean Ducts Can Make

The ductwork in your home or commercial building plays a crucial and often-forgotten role in maintaining a comfortable and healthy indoor environment for your family, employees, and customers.
Energy Efficiency
A build-up of dust and dirt in your ductwork can allow less room for air to pass through. This means that your HVAC system has to work harder to maintain the indoor temperature, which uses more energy and costs you more to run.
System Longevity
When your HVAC system works harder to accommodate obstructed ducts, that puts more stress on the system and shortens its lifespan. Keeping your ductwork clean protects your investment in your HVAC system.
Indoor Air Quality
Your central air system uses ductwork to circulate air throughout your home. Cleaning your duct system prevents the circulation of dust, allergens, and other pollutants that may have built up in your ducts over time, promoting better indoor air quality.
Maximum Comfort
Properly functioning and unobstructed ducts distribute conditioned air evenly, ensuring consistent comfort throughout your home or commercial space.
When to Schedule Duct Cleaning
The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts professionally cleaned every three to five years. If you’re not sure when your ducts were last cleaned, or if you’re experiencing any of the circumstances listed below, it’s probably time to consider scheduling a cleaning:
- Replacing Your HVAC System – If you are changing out your HVAC system with brand new equipment, we highly recommend starting off with fresh, clean ducts — especially if it’s been a while since they were last cleaned. If your ducts are dirty, your new HVAC system is going to have to work harder to maintain temperature, which will decrease its efficiency and shorten its lifespan. Maintaining clean air ducts protects your investment.
- Pet Dander – Here at Alltemp Air, we love our pets — especially our office dogs! But we also know that pet dander and shedding contribute to poor indoor air quality. Households with pets should consider more frequent air duct cleanings.
- Allergies or Asthma – If you have allergies or asthma, or if you live with someone who does, more frequent duct cleaning could help mitigate symptoms by filtering particles from the air that irritate these conditions.
- Recent Home Renovations – Any construction in your home could release dust, debris, or chemicals that are pulled into your duct system. If you’ve recently renovated any areas of your home, it might be a good time to schedule ductwork cleaning — especially if you’re coughing or sneezing more than usual or noticing strange noises or reduced airflow.
- Moving Into a New Home – Whether it’s a new build and you think the HVAC system may have been running during construction, or it’s an older home and you’re not sure when the previous occupants last cleaned their ducts, getting a fresh start by having your air ducts professionally cleaned is a great idea.
- Smoking Indoors – If you smoke tobacco products indoors or if you’ve moved into a home previously owned by smokers, getting your air ducts cleaned can help remove harmful soot and chemicals from the air.
- Poor Airflow – If you notice poor airflow from your vents, this may indicate that you have obstructions in your ductwork. Cleaning your ducts and removing any blockages will allow air to flow freely, reducing your energy consumption and extending the lifespan of your HVAC system.
Still not sure you need air duct cleaning? We offer a duct camera service! Our technician will come to your home and use a camera to inspect your ductwork so that you can see photos and decide for yourself whether cleaning is needed. No guesswork required. And if you do decide to get your duct cleaned, the camera service fee will be applied to your cleaning.
Duct Cleaning Done Right
You may have hired duct cleaning services in the past and had someone come to your home with a shop vac and complete the job in a couple of hours – that’s not what we do. At Alltemp Air, we pride ourselves on being thorough and doing the job right, using top-of-the-line Hypervac duct cleaning equipment designed by duct cleaners with years of experience. Here’s how we clean:
-
Place System Under Negative Pressure
Using top-of-the-line Hypervac duct cleaning equipment, we place your system under negative pressure through the use of a specialized, powerful vacuum.
-
Use Agitation Tools
Agitation tools will be used to loosen any dust and dirt clinging to the insides of your ductwork, including the main trunk line and supply and return connections. This is done while your system is under negative pressure so that particles do not escape back into your home.
-
Collect Debris
Dirt and debris are removed from your ductwork through industrial vacuum collection.
-
Clean Registers & Grilles
All supply and return registers and grilles in your home will be cleaned as part of the service.
-
Reseal Openings
Before leaving, our technician will clean up and re-seal any service openings that have been created during the cleaning process in a neat and professional manner.

Dryer Vent Cleaning
We also clean dryer vents! If your dryer seems to be working less efficiently, or if you’ve found yourself putting your clothes back in the dryer for another cycle, it’s time to schedule a dryer vent cleaning. As a general rule, dryer vents should be cleaned at least once per year. A clogged dryer vent is a fire hazard, so regular maintenance is essential. Have a dryer in a commercial building, such as a hair salon or inn? We clean those too!

How often should I get my air ducts cleaned?
The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years. However, in some situations – for example, if you or a family member suffers from allergies or asthma, or if you have pets – you may want to consider more frequent cleaning.
How often should I have my dryer vent cleaned?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends having your dryer vent cleaned at least once per year. If you do a lot of laundry, own pets, or notice that your clothes are taking longer to dry than usual, we advise scheduling cleanings more often. If you have a commercial dryer that experiences heavy use, dryer vent cleaning is recommended at least once every six months.
Can you look in my ducts and tell me if they’re dirty?
Actually, yes we can! We offer a duct camera service during which a technician will come to your home and look in your ducts with a special camera. He will show you pictures so that you can see the condition of the inside of your ductwork and determine whether you want to proceed with a cleaning. If you do decide to get your duct cleaned, the camera inspection fee will be deducted from the cost of your cleaning.
How long does duct cleaning typically take?
Our full-service, professional duct cleaning takes 6-8 hours per system on average. Cleaning time will vary depending on the size of the home and the quantity and accessibility of vents.
Is there anything I should do to prepare for my duct cleaning appointment?
To prepare for your duct cleaning service, please ensure that space has been cleared around all vents, both supply and return, and that nothing is blocking the technician’s access to the vents. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to point out all of the vents in the home to the technician, so we advise doing a walk-through of your home ahead of time to make sure you are familiar with their locations. We must be able to remove the vents and grilles in order to clean, so check to make sure that yours are not adhered to the wall with caulk or silicone. Lastly, please ensure that there is enough space in your driveway to park the duct cleaning truck.
Will you have to turn off my HVAC system in order to clean my ductwork?
Yes, your HVAC system will be turned off for the duration of the cleaning.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever found in someone’s ductwork?
An opossum. (Don’t worry – the little guy was fine.)
