How often should I schedule maintenance for my mini-split system?
As with any home comfort system, our recommendation is to schedule two preventative maintenance services for your mini-split each year: one during heating season and one during cooling season. We highly recommend signing up for an annual Maintenance Plan for your ductless system, which offers the best value and ensures that routine maintenance is never skipped.
How often should I clean the filters in my mini-splits?
Each indoor head in your ductless system contains a washable filter. While your owner’s manual will contain instructions specific to your mini-split system, as a general rule, we recommend cleaning the filters every thirty days. If you find that your filters are especially dirty, they may need to be cleaned more often.
What is included in a mini-split tune-up?
When an experienced Alltemp technician comes to your home to perform a preventative maintenance on your mini-split system, they will clean your filters, clear drain lines, inspect electrical components, verify proper refrigerant charge, rinse the indoor coil with diluted cleaning solution, and more. Can I heat and cool my whole home with a ductless mini-split system?
Yes, you can heat and cool your whole home using ductless mini-splits. However, this may not be the best solution in every scenario. If you have existing ductwork in good condition, it may make more sense to upgrade your central HVAC system instead of opting for mini-splits. We recommend weighing factors such as project budget, initial investment versus long-term energy savings, existing ductwork condition or practicality of ductwork installation, the quantity of indoor and outdoor units that would be required, and more.
