Indoor Air Quality
Let Us Be Your Breath of Fresh Air
Home comfort encompasses more than just temperature – humidity levels and the health of your indoor air also make a difference. Alltemp installs and services dehumidifiers, humidifiers, UV air cleaners, and more.
Dehumidifiers

A properly-sized air conditioning system will dehumidify your home while it is running and keep the humidity levels within a comfortable range year-round. That said, your central A/C system is not a dedicated dehumidifier – its dehumidification is a side-effect of its cooling. If you find that your home is humid and sticky in the summertime, often caused by air-sealing issues, you may need to install a whole-home dehumidifier to specifically target and remove the excess moisture.
Dehumidifiers
Alltemp installs AprilAire dehumidifiers, a top-tier, trusted brand that comes with a 5-year parts warranty. Optional Wi-Fi capability is available.
Energize Delaware Rebates
You may be eligible for an energy rebate with the installation of a qualifying dehumidifier. As an Energize Delaware Participating Contractor, we’ll help to ensure that you don’t miss out on energy incentives you may be eligible for.
Reduce Moisture in Crawlspaces & Basements
In addition to whole-home dehumidifiers, we install crawlspace dehumidifiers to control moisture underneath your home.
Save Energy
Dehumidification can make warmer temperatures feel more comfortable in your home, meaning that you can set your thermostat a few degrees higher and save energy by letting your A/C run less.
Humidifiers
Although excess humidity is a problem we experience more often at the beach, in the midst of winter, with your heater constantly running, some homes become excessively dry and uncomfortable. Whole-home humidifiers can significantly improve your indoor comfort, improving sleep, dry skin, and congestion.
AprilAire Humidifiers
Alltemp installs AprilAire humidifiers, a top-tier, trusted brand that comes with a 5-year parts warranty. Integration into your existing smart thermostat is available. (Don’t have a smart thermostat? Ask us about your options.)

Improve Health
Winter is the season of cold and flu, and a dry home only further irritates congested nasal passages and scratchy throats. A humidifier can help you breathe easier, alleviating your symptoms and letting you rest.
Save Energy
Humidification can make lower temperatures feel more comfortable in your home during the heating season, meaning that you can set your thermostat a few degrees higher and save energy by letting your heating system run less.
Energy Recovery Ventilator
An energy recovery ventilator (ERV) is a whole-home ventilation system that connects to your HVAC system and blows stale air outside while bringing fresh air inside. It contains a heat exchanger to recover any residual heat in the air that’s going outside and use that residual heat to warm up the fresh air that’s coming inside. In the summertime, it transfers the heat and moisture from the fresh air entering your home into the cooler, dryer air leaving your home.
Hello, Fresh Air
Newer, well-insulated homes are great when it comes to saving energy, but the trade-off can be stale indoor air or lingering odors. An ERV allows you to bring fresh air into your home, reducing the concentration of contaminants in your indoor air without inviting humidity or sacrificing energy efficiency.

Balance Indoor Humidity
By retaining the heat and moisture in your home during heating season, but filtering out the humidity in the incoming air during cooling season, an ERV can help balance your indoor humidity year-round.
Save Energy
By transferring energy from the conditioned air leaving your home to pre-cool or pre-heat the fresh air entering your home, an ERV takes some of the burden off of your HVAC system.
Air Cleaners
Cleaner, Healthier Indoor Air
Modern homes are tightly sealed to maximize energy efficiency, but the trade-off is that less fresh air is let in to reduce the concentration of contaminants in your indoor air. Alltemp recommends two solutions by Fresh-Aire UV to improve your indoor air quality.

ENHANCE-ION Bipolar Filtration Enhancing Ionizer
Standard HVAC filters remove larger contaminants from the air – think dirt, dust, or pet dander. But the filter in your heating and cooling system isn’t designed to capture the smaller, harmful particles that can travel right through the filter media. That’s where the ENHANCE-ION air cleaner comes in.
ENHANCE-ION is installed using a magnetic mount inside of your return ductwork. It creates a polarized charge, and as positive and negative ions mix in the air, they attract fine particulate matter into clusters large enough to be captured by your standard air filter. ENHANCE-ION makes any HVAC filter more efficient – without adding any significant restrictions to airflow – and can improve particulate capture rates by up to 38% compared to your filter media working alone.
APCO-X UV Light Air Cleaner
APCO-X combines UVC light and carbon technology to safely reduce the biological and chemical contaminants that your standard HVAC filter cannot: mold, bacteria, viruses, odors, allergens, and VOC chemical vapors. Installed, it treats your indoor air as it recirculates through your HVAC system, improving air quality throughout your entire home.
Not only does the APCO-X UV light air cleaner improve the safety and quality of your indoor air, but it also improves your HVAC system’s performance. By keeping your coil and drain pan clean and disinfecting your HVAC equipment of microbial contamination, it increases the efficiency and lifespan of your heating and cooling system.
Fresh-Aire UV also offers a UV air cleaner specifically designed for mini-splits.

FAQs
You’ve got questions? We’ve got answers.
If you can’t find the answer to your question, feel free to contact us here.
What is the recommended ideal indoor humidity level?
While balanced humidity exists between 40 and 60% RH, it’s important to remember that outdoor temperature and other home factors like age and home tightness will impact what relative humidity level is attainable and recommended for your house.
Do you repair humidifiers and dehumidifiers?
Yes, in addition to installing dehumidifiers and humidifiers, we also repair and maintain them.
Why isn’t my central air system adequately controlling the humidity levels in my home?
A properly-sized HVAC system will dehumidify your home while it is running and keep the humidity levels within a comfortable range year-round. That said, your central HVAC system is not a dedicated dehumidifier and does not operate the same way as an Aprilaire or Honeywell dehumidifier. Secondary dehumidification is typically needed in homes that suffer from high humidity. High humidity is typically caused by excessive moisture infiltration due to air-sealing issues.
If humidity is a concern, we highly recommend opting for higher-efficiency variable-speed A/C equipment, and/or considering the addition of a whole-home dehumidifier.
Do I need to schedule maintenance on my humidifier or dehumidifier?
Yes, we recommend scheduling maintenance on your humidifier or dehumidifier once per year. Humidifier maintenance should be scheduled during heating season, and dehumidifier maintenance should be scheduled during cooling season. You can add your humidifier or dehumidifier onto your annual Maintenance Plan with Alltemp to ensure preventative maintenance is never skipped!
Do you clean ductwork?
We do clean air ducts, and we highly recommend getting your ductwork professionally cleaned as the first step to improving your indoor air quality. You can learn more about our air duct and dryer vent cleaning services here.
How does my air conditioner affect the humidity in my home?

Do you work on geothermal heat pumps?
Yes, we work on geothermal heat pumps. That said, we work only on the HVAC side of your geothermal system – not on wells. If you are having issues with your water loops in the ground, you would need to contact your well company.
